Show Gardens 2017 – We are pleased to announce that we have a great selection of show gardens this year from both mature and young budding horticultural designers which you will be able to enjoy and walk around as you enter the main Showground entrance near St Chad’s Church. It is our 130th Show this year and we are celebrating it with the theme ‘Buffalo Bill and the Wild West’ as the date coincides with William F Cody’s birth, and also to celebrate his 2 Great Britain Tours that he and his team did back in 1902-1903 and in 1904 along “Buffalo Bill and the Wild West Show”. So come and see the amazing variety of designs depicting the Wild West and embracing a bit of world history! Both categories will be judged on Friday morning by the Celebrity Gardeners, Joe Swift and Penny Meadmore, and our Honorary Horticulturalist Advisor, Nigel Bishop.
The Shropshire Horticultural Society continue to support and promote the younger generation in developing their horticultural skills and passions and, therefore, this year we have, continued with the School Show Gardens category next to the Large Show Gardens. If you wish to partake next year, in either of these terrific categories of the Show then please email email@example.com or alternatively you can call Kaye on 01743 234054 or complete and submit the form below.
Floral Train 2017 – We are really excited about this year’s Floral Train theme for Shropshire Primary Schools as it is an opportunity for the students to exhibit a bit more flare and panache because it is ‘Dining on the Orient Express’! The students have received a combination of herbs and flowering edible plants to nurture and create their own carriage on the train ready for the Celebrity Gardener, Joe Swift, and our Honorary Horticulturalist Advisor, Nigel Bishop, to judge on the Friday morning of the Show. The edible plant plugs and materials have been kindly donated by Roden Nurseries of Telford and the herbs by De Vliet of Stoke-on-Trent. If you are representing a Shropshire Primary School and wish to know more about this opportunity to encourage budding horticulturists then please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Future Marquee is where various educational exhibitors display in order to encourage the younger generation in horticulture and nature as a whole. It provides an opportunity for people, young and old, to interact with the displays as well as just sitting back and enjoying the exhibits. It is a place to enjoy the wonders of nature and also a chance to learn about conservation of nature for future generations. To express an interest to exhibit at our 2018 Show, please complete and submit the form below or contact Kaye Strauss on 01743-234054
