At the 2017 Shrewsbury Flower Show, the Hardy Plant Society is in celebratory mood! This truly hardy, national organisation has been in existence for 60 yrs, formed by just 4 keen plantsmen in 1957 as a way to promote and conserve perennial plants. 25 years ago Shropshire created its own branch and is still growing!
The HPS is a group of all ages and abilities which aims to inspire and encourage people to grow hardy herbaceous plants in all their diversity.
Shropshire, as with all local groups, provides the opportunity to meet and talk with other like-minded people. It caters for general and special interests; enables members, through the Seed Distribution Scheme offering thousands of seed varieties, to try something different and has an extensive photo library.
Within our regular programme of talks from amazing, sometimes nationally acclaimed, speakers and summer visits to beautiful gardens we are well known for being friendly and approachable – if you need inspiration or advice we can help……or we know someone who can.
What are hardy, herbaceous plants – we’d love to tell you all about them so why not come along to our display in the Severn-Dingle marquee and say hello? We are so looking forward to repeating our experience of last year when we were delighted by so many positive comments.
