FRIDAY & SATURDAY

For nearly 30 years, the Shrewsbury Flower Show has said goodnight to thousands of visitors following a spectacular firework display.  Designed by Kimbolton who produced the Pyrotechnic and Firework Displays (Ceremonies) at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the stunning display marries traditional and innovative methods, synchronised to music to produce an ever more exciting and unique fireworks finale.

The fireworks take place on both nights of the show, starting around 9.45pm and finishing at 10pm.

CHILDREN’S AREA

The Children’s Area this year is going to be packed full of fun, exciting activities for people of all ages – and everything is free!

This year we are very pleased to welcome Chris Beardshaw and David Hatfield – they will be running children’s planting sessions. Come along and learn all about planting. All children who take part get a free plant to take home with them.

We have our favourite musical genius – Mr. Boom, joining us all the way from the Moon, who will be bringing his unique and wonderful style of musical entertainment – will you be part of his band? Malcolm Malan will be amazing everyone with his magic, and watch out for Jack the Jester and his show.

In the Children’s Area there will also be:

  • Animals from Walford College
  • Chickens and ducks from Chucks N Ducks
  • Little Rascals Disco Dome and soft play area
  • Giant inflatable obstacle course
  • Rugby skills area run by Shrewsbury Rugby Club
  • Soap carving with the Shropshire Woodcarvers
  • Bookmark making with Emma Lawrence
  • Book exchange run by Bookfest
  • Craft tent
  • Circus skills area
  • Face painting
  • Balloon modeller

Remember, everything in the Children’s Area is completely free.

Commonwealth Flag Challenge 2018

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Commonwealth this year, we ran a flag challenge!

There are 53 countries in the Commonwealth, all with their own flag, but don’t worry – we have only picked 10 flags to use! All you have to do is find them and name the country using the key in the programme.

Entry forms can be collected and dropped off in the Secretary’s Tent and the Children’s Area. All correct entries will be entered into a draw to win two adult tickets (with free entry for under 15s) to next year’s show.
