  • It’s Good to be Back!

Shrewsbury Flower Show returns for the first time since 2019 and will be celebrating its 133rd show, making it one of the world’s longest running independent flower shows.

On Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August The Quarry, a beautiful 29-acre park in the heart of Shrewsbury, will once again be awash with wonderful flowers, fabulous food and live entertainment, making it the ultimate summer day out!

Attractions for all ages will include stunning floral arrangements and inspiring show gardens, equestrian competitions and exciting arena entertainment, including The Shetland Pony Grand National.

There will be great shopping opportunities to be had with the dedicated food hall, crafts marquee and a large trade stands area.

Celebrity gardener Toby Buckland, known for presenting numerous gardening TV shows, including BBC Gardeners’ World and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show coverage, will be on hand to offer advice. He will be joined by Penny Meadmore and David Domoney.

We are excited to welcome to our Dingle Marquee this year, Fleurs de Villes who have, for the past five years, been delighting audiences globally with their signature fresh floral mannequins. Popping up in cities around the world, their brand of floral story-telling is compelling with local florists in each city bringing floral art to life in a fashionable way. This year marks the launch of the Fleurs de Villes FEMMES series – featuring floral works of art inspired by remarkable women. And in Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebration we are delighted to bring Fleurs de Villes to Shrewsbury for the first time with one iconic mannequin of the Coronation Robes en Fleurs!

ITV’s This Morning’s chef Phil Vickery will be demonstrating his cookery skills on both days, along with other local chefs.

On Friday evening live music will be by The Ronnies and on Saturday, South African pop star, Amy Jones will take to the stage.

Both days will be topped off with choirs, the massed bands finale and a colourful fireworks display.

With children 15 years and under admitted free when accompanied with a paying adult the Shrewsbury Flower Show is an ideal family day out.

  • Cancellation Of The 2021 Shrewsbury Flower Show

Whilst the Prime Minister’s announcement on the 22nd February and the Government’s Roadmap to ease Covid-19 restrictions were positive and welcomed, there is still a high-level of uncertainty about the ongoing global pandemic and what statutory Covid restrictions will still be in place in August for large scale, high-capacity mass gatherings like the Shrewsbury Flower Show.  The Prime Minister stressed that the dates set out in the roadmap are indicative of “no earlier than” dates and that he is being driven by data and not dates.  As these dates are wholly contingent on the data and are subject to change if the four tests are not met, the timeline of the roadmap is not guaranteed.

In view of so many uncertainties during these turbulent times, the Shropshire Horticultural Society has reached the very difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Shrewsbury Flower Show due to be held on Friday 13th & Saturday 14th August.   This decision has not been taken lightly and is based on the fact that the risk is simply too great for the event to be held this year.  It would be an enormous health & safety, operational and financial gamble to the Society, which as a charity we would be unable to justify.  The safety of all those involved is of our utmost concern.  Therefore, the Society’s priority has to be to safeguard the viability of the event for future years and by not holding an event this year and running such risks, it will enable the Shrewsbury Flower Show to return in 2022.

The Society will be in touch with all its Members, ticket holders, exhibitors, traders and volunteers in the forthcoming weeks.  In the meantime, I would like to thank you all for your patience.  We will be holding a virtual event over the course of the 13th & 14th August.  Follow our social media channels and website for further information over the coming weeks and months.

For more details of the 2022 Shrewsbury Flower Show which will be held on

Friday 12th & Saturday 13th August, please check the website www.shrewsburyflowershow.org.uk later in the year.

It promises to be quite an experience. The main display will start on both nights at about 9.45pm and end at 10pm.

“Preparations for the Show are progressing nicely and once again we have put together an event which should have something to interest everybody - whatever their age, including lectures from celebrity gardener David Domoney, known for his role in ITV’s Love Your Garden and cookery demonstrations from Masterchef presenter and celebrity chef John Torode.

“I would like to remind people that our programme of entertainment for the young is an extensive and exciting.”

All activities in the Children’s Area are free and children's admission for those aged 15 and under, when accompanied by an adult, is free. The fun includes an inflatable obstacle course, soap carving sessions, Bookfest book exchange and entertainment from Mr Boom.
